Jim is honored to serve as the State Program Leader for Emerging and Advanced Technology with Penn State Extension. In this role, he guides the development and implementation of cutting-edge initiatives in areas including blockchain, broadband, geospatial intelligence, mixed reality, artificial intelligence, connected device infrastructure, and more. His expertise in strategic development, stakeholder engagement, applied research, spatial and workforce analysis, and education has been instrumental in leading and supporting significant efforts in entrepreneurship, broadband, community and economic development, energy development, and technology outreach and applied research.

Prior to his current role, Jim was the Assistant Director of Programs for the Energy, Business, and Community Vitality Unit, where he successfully led a dedicated team of 32 Extension professionals spread across Pennsylvania. He has been privileged to engage with a diverse group of stakeholders, from farmers and businesses to communities and nonprofits, both locally and globally. Jim is dedicated to simplifying the complexities associated with technology development, integration, utilization, adoption, and equity. His commitment to uncovering and disseminating science-based solutions aims to empower informed decisions, enhancing the efficiency, growth, competitiveness, and profitability of industries such as farm, food, agriculture, energy, environment, and natural resources. Further, his work engages and supports vibrant communities, driving innovation and inclusivity in technology, research, and education.
