Penn State Extension's vector-borne disease team focuses on diseases (Lyme, West Nile and others) caused by pathogens transmitted by ticks and mosquitos.

Vector-borne diseases are diseases caused by pathogens transmitted by insects or related animals like ticks. This display will provide information about the most common vector-borne diseases in Pennsylvania. This includes tick-associated diseases such as Lyme disease and anaplasmosis, along with mosquito-associated diseases like the West Nile virus encephalitis. Information on recognizing vectors and ways to protect yourself, your family, your pets, and your livestock from vector bites and vector-borne diseases will be provided. 

Fight the Bite: How to treat your clothing and use repellents effectively to keep ticks away.
-A  30 minute talk and demonstration on how to treat clothing with application of Permethrin, will be held in the College Theatre.
