College alumnus Samuel Hayes Jr. selected as a 2017 Penn State Distinguished Alumnus

A resident of Warriors Mark, Pennsylvania, Hayes is a former secretary of agriculture for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and a retired state representative. He earned his bachelor’s degree in agricultural science and industry in 1964 from the College of Agricultural Sciences and his master’s degree in earth sciences in 1965 from the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. The Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest honor presented by the University to its alumni.

Penn State Equine Program Alumni

Alumni interested in starting a Penn State Equine Program Alumni Group started a facebook page collecting over 250 followers and held their first meeting at the Penn State Quarter Horse Sale on April 29, 2017. They also raised $1,600 for the Ward Studebaker Endowment in 10 days that was presented at the sale.

2017 Outstanding Senior Recognized at the Spring Graduation Brunch

Jimmy Frisbie, an Immunology and Infectious Diseases major with a minor in Bioethics and Medical Humanities from Waynesboro, Virginia is the recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Senior Award which is sponsored by the College of Agricultural Sciences Alumni Society and the Coaly Society. This award honors the senior who best balances outstanding academics, extracurricular activities, work experience and communication skills.

On May 7, more than 400 family, friends, faculty, staff and alumni celebrated the 2017 College of Agricultural Sciences graduates prior to commencement at a brunch held at the Snider Agricultural Arena. The brunch, hosted by the Ag Alumni Society, welcomes graduates into the alumni society family with a one-year complimentary membership.

The Ag Alumni Society invites spring graduates and their family and friends to the graduation brunch prior to commencement on Sunday, May 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Snider Ag Arena. Graduating seniors receive a complimentary ticket on behalf of the Ag Alumni Society.
