Penn State Ag Alumni Society News

The Ag Alumni Society's mission is to connect, serve, and recognize alumni, students, and faculty by fostering relationships, commitment, and pride that characterizes our College. The society plays a vital role in supporting the college, students, and alumni programming. Alumni who graduated from the College of Agricultural Sciences become members of the Ag Alumni Society automatically by joining the Penn State Alumni Association.

Ag Alumni Society Grows Endowment for Student Scholarships

In 2014, the College of Agricultural Sciences Alumni Society pledged $100,000 to create a new endowment in support of student scholarships. Now, the society is doubling down to enhance that fund by another $100,000 and help more students with their educational expenses.

On May 8, more than 550 attendees celebrated the 2016 College of Agricultural Sciences graduates prior to commencement at a luncheon held at the Penn Stater. The luncheon, hosted by the Ag Alumni Society, welcomed graduates into the alumni society family with a one-year complimentary membership.
Outstanding Senior Recognized at the Graduation Lunch

Cara Boothroyd, a native of Endwell, New York, has been named 2016 Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences Outstanding Senior by the Ag Alumni Society. She was also chosen as the student marshal for the college's spring commencement ceremony, which took place at 3:30 p.m., on May 8, at the Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus.
Agricultural Education Professor receives Excellence in Academic Advising Award

Daniel Foster, assistant professor of agricultural and extension education in Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences, is the recipient of the college's 2016 Excellence in Academic Advising Award.
Student Gift Bags

The Ag Alumni Society invites alumni, industry partners and friends of the college to help provide students with gift bags during finals week. This is a fun way to provide students with a diversion from the grind and pressures of finals and a fantastic way to promote companies and products to students.

On April 23, 30 ag alumni and friends embarked on a one-day motor coach trip sponsored by the Ag Alumni Society and the Pasto Agricultural Museum. Taking a step back in time they visited an authentic crossroads village of historic buildings with costumed guide interpretation, a vast collection of historic agricultural equipment and traditions using historic breeds of animals and crops authentic to the period.

Pride, Connection and Support of Academic Excellence Remain Strong for Penn State Alumni

The Penn State Alumni Association released an update of its national survey of alumni — the fifth such survey commissioned since 2012 — which shows a steady increase in core metrics including pride in and connection to Penn State.

Berkey Creamery Store to be Closed for Renovations in Early Winter

Ag Live Tailgate 2015 raised more than $38,000 for Students

Held on November 21, Ag Live raised more than $38,000 through sponsorships, a live auction and a silent auction. These funds benefit the Ag Alumni Society Trustee Endowed Student Scholarship.
