Held on November 23, Ag Live surpasses fundraising goal for the seventh consecutive year raising more than $39,000. These proceeds directly benefit the College of Agricultural Sciences Alumni Society's student scholarships, internship awards, and other student and alumni programs.

Student Clubs and Organizations Highlighted

Twenty-one student clubs and organizations showcased their groups at the Ag Live Tailgate to hundreds of Ag alumni and friends. This was a great opportunity to highlight group activities and sell fundraising items such as t-shirts, cookie mixes in a jar, holiday decorations and first aid kits for pets.

A Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences degree can take you anywhere, and for Slade it involves launching vehicles and astronauts into space! He says that the most rewarding part has been to watch the space shuttles launch and get the astronauts back to Earth safely.

The Ag Alumni Society approved the charter of the newly formed Natural Resources Engineering Affiliate Program Group (APG). The goal of the group is to stimulate the continued interest of alumni of the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department, practicing in the field of Natural Resources Engineering.

Student group advisor, Dan Azzara '84g, '86 Ph.D. Food Science led the Food Science Product Development Team to win national honors at the Dairy Research Institute's New Product Competition. Azzara is the Alan Warehime Professor of Food and Agribusiness, Armsby Honor Society member and a former Ag Alumni Society board member.

On April 25, thousands of soon-to-be Penn State graduates attended the Senior Sendoff at the Hintz Family Alumni Center. Dozens of students from the College of Ag Sciences stopped by the Ag Alumni Society table to learn more about the society, pick-up their complimentary t-shirt, and sign-up for the Berkey Creamery Ice Cream raffle hosted by the Ag Alumni Society.

Dr. Robert Van Saun, Professor of Veterinary Science has been selected as the recipient of the 2013 Excellence in Academic Advising Award. The award recognizes faculty with outstanding skills in undergraduate academic advising, career planning, and personal counseling. His nomination was supported by current students, alumni and Penn State faculty, and is a true tribute to the important impact he has had on the lives of students.

If someone were to ask me that same exact question, my response would be the Ag Live Tailgate event during my junior year in college.
