On-Farm Education and Value-Added

Terri Kinka, On-Farm Education and Value-Added Mentor, can be reached at ggpacas@gmail.com or 484-547-1400.

Terri Kinka was first introduced to farming as a little girl living on her parents’ 100-acre farm.  Although the family eventually moved, Terri carried with her a love of gardening and getting dirty.  Having learned about farming through experience, Terri values that it provides solace, offers a sense-of-self, and is good, clean fun.  Terri is passionate about alpacas and possesses a wealth of knowledge regarding every aspect of their care.

Terri started Golden Glen Alpacas in Schuylkill County in 2008 and now maintains a herd of approximately 40 Peruvian Suri alpacas.  The farm is moving to 20 acres in Lehigh County in May of 2015.  Golden Glen Alpacas offers breeding, raw fiber, and finished woven garments, as well as on-farm education. Alpaca fiber from Golden Glen is all processed in PA and can be purchased as roving, felted sheets, standard yarn, or rug yarn.  Terri invites visitors to come to the farm for a day, or two, to learn about barn set-up, pasture management, alpaca care, husbandry, and fiber.
