The Seed Farm Accepting Applications

Posted: September 25, 2014

The Seed Farm’s New Farmer Training Program is now accepting applications for its 2015 season.

The Seed Farm’s New Farmer Training Program is now accepting applications for its 2015 season. This intensive training program includes over 500 hours of on-farm training on our 42-acre farm in Emmaus, PA, and 100 of formal workshops, farm visits, and classes through Penn State Extension. Participants will build skills in equipment operation and production techniques, as well as developing their own marketing connections and creating their own production and business plans.

Graduates of the training program may apply to join The Seed Farm’s agricultural incubator, where they can launch their farm businesses on Lehigh County-owned land with access to equipment, infrastructure, and continued mentorship. Our graduates are more employable as farm mangers after receiving significant tractor training, farm planning, and business management experience.

New for 2015: high-ranking applicants may apply for one of three fellowships, while a work-study option is available to applicants who need additional farming experience.

For more information and application materials, visit www.TheseedFarm.org or call Lindsey Parks, Executive Director, at (610) 391-9583 x16. Applications are due November 15, 2014, and a site visit is strongly recommended of all applicants.
