Food Science

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll in the College of Agricultural Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University who have achieved superior academic records or who manifest promise of outstanding academic success, and who have demonstrated financial need. The recipient must have a minimum 2.5 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. First preference shall be given to graduates of Greenwood High School (Perry County, Pennsylvania). Second preference shall be given to students that graduated from a high school located in Perry County, Pennsylvania. Third preference shall be given to other students in Pennsylvania. For each preference group the selection should be based on the following criteria (in order of importance): entering freshmen, extent of financial need, extracurricular involvement, students who are among the first generation in their families to attend college or a university, and Food Science majors. ** DOCUMENTED FINANCIAL NEED REQUIRED

Consideration for this award shall be given to undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Agricultural Sciences, or successor academic unit, who are majoring in or planning to major in a degree program offered by the Department of Food Science, or successor department, and who have fulfilled educational and professional objectives through participation in an internship, for-credit or not-for-credit, in a dairy processing facility with significant emphasis on frozen dessert manufacture or fluid milk processing.

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students enrolled in the Department of Food Science in the College of Agricultural Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University who have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Preference shall be given to a student who has demonstrated achievement with innovative research in the dairy industry.

Consideration for the teaching award shall be given to all full-time graduate students who are currently enrolled in a degree program offered by the Department of Food Science, or successor department, and who have achieved superior eaching success. Consideration for the graduate scholarship shall be given to all full-time graduate students who are enrolled in a degree program by the Department of Food Science, or successor department, who have achieved superior academic records. For the scholarship, financial need may be a consideration but is not a requirement for eligibility.

Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate and graduate students enrolled or planning to enroll in Food Science to study frozen dessert technology, production, and safety who demonstrate academic achievement and have documented financial need. Principal consideration shall be given to all undergraduate students enrolled full-time in the Department of Animal Science who have at least fifth- but not more than tenth-semester standing, have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 2.5, and have an interest in dairy production and/or processing. If no recipient is identified in the Department of Animal Science, then the scholarship will be awarded to eligible students in the Department of Food Science. Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students majoring in Food Science in the College of Agricultural Sciences at the Pennsylvania State University who have achieved superior academic records or who manifest promise of outstanding academic success.
