Scholarship FAQs

Who should fill out the scholarship application?
All incoming and returning students to the College of Agricultural Sciences.

What do I need to complete the Scholarship Application?
You will need your 9-digit PSU student ID number. This number was assigned to you when you first applied to PSU.

Do I need to apply for each scholarship in the College that I want to be considered for?
No. The College of Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Application is the only application that needs to be completed to be considered for all scholarships within the College.

I submitted a scholarship application last year. Do I need to submit another one this year?
Yes, no exceptions.

I filed a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) last year, do I need to file another one this year?
Yes. You must file a new FAFSA each year.

I received a scholarship last year. Will I receive one again this year?
There is no guarantee that you will receive a scholarship each year. All scholarships are highly competitive and have different criteria. This criteria can include but is not limited to GPA requirements, documented financial need, residency, semester standing, and major.

Do scholarships automatically renew each year?
No, scholarships do not renew each year unless specifically stated in the guidelines.

What scholarships are available in the College?

I do not have a high financial need. Why should I apply for scholarships?
Not all scholarships are based on financial need. Some are based on academic merit and other criteria. We encourage all students to apply.

Can I make changes to my application after it is submitted?
Yes. To make changes or edits, you will need to return to the Scholarship Application website and enter your 9-digit PSU student ID and a 4-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN). This 4-digit PIN was included in your email confirmation but you can also have it sent to you via email from the Scholarship Application website.

You can return to the website as often as you like before May 1 to change or update your scholarship application.

Who makes the scholarship awarding decisions?
The College’s Scholarship Committee makes determinations for the majority of the College scholarships.

Each Department within the College also has a scholarship committee that makes the determinations for department or major specific scholarships.

If I switch majors or drop below full-time status, will I still be eligible to receive a scholarship?
If you switch to a major outside of the College of Agricultural Sciences you will no longer be eligible to receive College wide or academic department scholarships. If you have already received a scholarship and you change to a major outside the College, your scholarship may be cancelled.

If you change majors within the College and received a department or major specific scholarship, your scholarship may be cancelled.

Part-time students are still eligible to receive scholarships if the criteria of a scholarship does not require full-time status.

When are scholarships awarded?
The normal scholarship awarding cycle starts in May and continues through June for the upcoming academic year. However, there are a few scholarships that are awarded outside of the normal cycle.

Will I be notified if I received a scholarship?
Only scholarship recipients are notified. These notifications are sent to the student’s PSU email address and are typically sent in July for the upcoming academic year.

I received notification that I am a recipient of a scholarship. Where do I find the amount I was awarded?
All scholarships and awards will post to your LionPATH account and you are able view the amount there.

There is information in the scholarship notification about thanking my donor.  It is critical that I send a thank you note?
YES! Donors appreciate hearing from the students who benefit from their generosity. Please take the time to thank your donor.

How are scholarships disbursed?
Normally one-half of the scholarship is credited in the fall semester and one-half in the spring semester.

What if I am graduating in December and I have scholarship funds in the spring semester?
You can request to have the all scholarship funds awarded by the College moved to the fall semester. Please send the request to Sheryl Flick, Scholarship Coordinator for the College of Agricultural Sciences, to .
