The College of Agricultural Sciences has limited funds available for emergency loans to meet unexpected needs. These loans are intended for students who have exhausted other sources of loan funding and have indicated by their academic performance that they will complete their studies at the University.

These funds are not to be used to fund full tuition and expense needs. The maximum amount that can be requested from this loan source is $4,000.

To be eligible for this loan you:

  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident
  • Enrolled as a full-time student in the College of Agricultural Sciences - certificate, associate, baccalaureate, or graduate degree program
  • Must present evidence of financial need
  • Should not have a balance due from a previous emergency loan given by the College of Agricultural Sciences

International students are ineligible but should consult the Office of International Student Affairs if experiencing financial problems.

If you feel you would qualify for an emergency loan, an application can be submitted below or obtained at the Office for Undergraduate Education, 101 Agricultural Administration Building.

Repayment information and University loan serving information, can be obtained from the Office of the Bursar.

Procedure for Requesting Emergency Loan

  1. Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements as stated above.
  2. Applicants must submit a College of Agricultural Science Emergency Loan application. If needed, a hard copy can be picked up in 101 Agricultural Administration Building.
  3. Applicants must present evidence of financial need. Document(s) verifying reason for loan must be submitted with loan application.
  4. The application will be reviewed by the Office for Undergraduate Education. Upon review, you will be notified via email if your application has been approved or denied.
  5. If approved, the request will be sent to the Office of Student Aid to administer the loan.
    • A University Master Promissory Note (MPN) must be signed prior to the accepting loan LionPATH, if one has not already been signed for another University loan.
