Summer Research Assistant opportunity

Opportunity: Assist with field research and lab tasks focused on insect and plant pathogen population ecology and management in specialty crops.

Duties:

  • Establish and service pheromone traps
  • Help with efficacy studies in sweet corn and cucumber plots
  • Monitor and report data using web interfaces
  • Assist in data management, compile and summarize data, routine lab maintenance

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work independently/small teams in:
    • Ag fields
    • laboratory settings
  • Ability to travel to field sites
    • potential overnight travel
    • very early morning field work
  • Must be willing to learn basic insect, plant and pathogen identification
  • Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Ecology, Biology, or related field
    • an understanding of agricultural systems
    • exposure to statistical analyses
    • computer skills
