Penn State Extension Adams County Ag Entrepreneurship Internship 2017

This unique opportunity with Adams County will provide a student intern an opportunity to connect agricultural education, research and business development. Through collaboration with educators the Earl & Kay Harbaugh Agricultural Entrepreneurship Intern selected for this project will not only learn the analytical science and teaching skills transferable to many fields, but how to tie the lessons to the formation of business development, thereby illustrating how agriculture fits into the continued growth of local economies.

This paid summer internship will run from June 5 through July 28 (8 weeks) for 40 hours per week at $12.00 per hour.

Responsibilities may include: Value-Added Specialty Crop Entrepreneurship Program

  • Conducting interviews and writing articles to increase outreach and understanding of business management and marketing of value added specialty crops
  • Assisting with applied research and data analysis
  • Short video design, filming and editing
  • Assisting with design and planning of educational programming

We are seeking enthusiastic undergraduate students from Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences with interests in rural agriculture production, agricultural education, fruit production, and adult education. This intern will be part of a team, and must function in a manner that maintains a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm with other staff, management and clients.

Employment will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. The selected intern will have the opportunity to work in multiple Adams County locations throughout the summer, in and near Gettysburg, PA.
