The 2018 AFA Food Science Institute, hosted in Chicago during January, is a high-caliber professional development event for college students interested in food science. The event provides students hands-on exposure to the food research and processing methods of companies like Tyson Foods, McDonald's, Hormel and many more!

Held January 28-30, 2018, the AFA Food Institute brings around 75 talented college men and women to the Chicago area to take part in a three-day program. Students have the opportunity to meet professionals and executives in the food industry, explore the research and processing methods of companies like Hormel, Tyson Foods, Buddig and more, and be involved in discussions centered on the future of the food industry. In addition, students will spend time at McDonald's Hamburger University and Innovation Center, hosted by Cargill, Inc.

Penn State students may be selected through a competitive application process which can be found at agfuture.org. This Institute is open to all undergraduate students pursuing agriculture-related degrees.
