Arthur W. Nesbitt Faculty Program Development Award

The purpose of this endowment shall be to support a College of Agricultural Sciences faculty member in their teaching or extension programs, with the intent that the investment will help the awardee leverage future funding opportunities in any or all of these functional areas, for Animal Science or Food Science.

Only one submission per academic unit.

Eligibility:

One faculty member per academic department, for Animal Science or Food Science.

Amount:

$14,000 available for the 2017/2018 fiscal year.

Guidelines:

  1. The two-page proposal should explain:
    • Proposed project for the time-frame of July 1, 2017 through May 31, 2018.
    • Expected use of the funds (funds may not be used for faculty supplemental salary).
    • How results from the investment of Nesbitt funds are likely to lead to additional funding from other sources.
  2. If for some reason, proposals received from these program areas would not be deemed acceptable, the competition would be opened across the college.  Do not submit other topic areas at this time.
  3. Please note that these funds will need to be expended by May 31, 2018 to allow for clearing the budget by June 30.  Any remaining funds will revert to our office and will be used per donor guidelines.
  4. Unit Leaders will submit a unified pdf for one faculty member to Research and Graduate Education via email () by 5:00PM Monday, May 15, 2017.

Selection Process:

Proposals will be reviewed by the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education with consultation from appropriate department heads or faculty members as needed.
