A Perfect Round

The number-one turfgrass program in the nation hit a hole-in-one this year: all three major U.S. golf tournaments were hosted at courses run by Penn State turfgrass grads.

In April, Marsh Benson ’96 Turf Cert hosted the 2013 Masters Golf Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club. In June, the U. S. Open came to Merion Golf Club, a course run by Matt Shaffer ’96 Turf Cert, and a whole host of Penn Staters, including professors Andy McNitt, John Kaminski, Mike Fidanza, and their students, made the trip to volunteer for the tournament. In August, Jeff Corcoran ’95 Turf hosted the PGA Championship at his course, Oak Hill Country Club. A perfect round, we say.
