And the Outstanding Senior Award Goes to . . .

Sarah PetersonSarah Peterson, ’11 Immunology and Infectious Disease, was recognized by the Ag Alumni Society at spring commencement for outstanding academics, extracurricular activities, work experience, and communication skills. You may recognize Peterson from her appearance in one of our dictionary ads in the winter/spring 2010 issue where she expressed plans for a career in public health and working with the World Health Organization.

Her extracurricular activities included serving as an Ag Advocate and as president of the Biomedical Sciences Club. She was also a member of Atlas, a top independent fundraising team for THON. 

Peterson volunteered her summer vacation in 2009 to teach English to children with special needs in an orphanage in Heredia, Costa Rica. She has been a student mentor in the Science-U Science Camp and assisted in research projects at the Reading Hospital Medical Center and at Penn State. She also facilitated a student mentoring program as an intern in the College of Agricultural Sciences Alumni Relations Office.
