TeamViewer Icon on Your Desktop

Ag IT will be installing the TeamViewer software, used for providing remote computer support, on all Extension computers currently running Tivoli Endpoint Management (TEM). This install will not require any user intervention and is intended to assist users in launching the TeamViewer application when remote support is required.

Ag IT uses a program called TeamViewer to provide remote troubleshooting, software installation and general computer support.

In the past, users may have been required to activate the TeamViewer software by accessing it from the TeamViewer website. To make this process easier for users, we will begin installing the software on Extension computers running the Tivoli Endpoint Management (TEM) software. TEM will automatically install the TeamViewer software on computers that are connected to a network. This installation will run as a background process and will not require any user interaction. The only way most users will realize TeamViewer has been installed will be the addition of a TeamViewer 8 shortcut on their desktop and in the Start Menu.

If over the next few days you notice the new icon on your desktop, please rest assured that it is normal and you do not need to be concerned.

Also, if your computer does not receive the TeamViewer 8 install, there is no need to be concerned. It is possible that your computer does not currently have TEM installed. In that case, it will be installed at a future date.
