FLASH! New Adobe Contract on the Way

Posted: September 4, 2013

A new university Adobe contract will change the way products such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, InDesign, and Photoshop are acquired.

The university is in the final stages of acquiring a new software licensing contract with Adobe. Adobe is changing its licensing model to include two suites of software products – Adobe Acrobat Pro and Adobe Creative Cloud. Creative Cloud includes such products as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Premiere and more.

While this will be a university-wide contract, the college will be responsible for paying its fair share of the contract based on the quantity and type of software suite installed. While individual users will not be charged for an install of Adobe Acrobat Pro for example, the Adobe software installed as part of this contract will not be "free" to the college.

Once the contract is finalized and we are ready to begin installations, more information will be shared. In the meantime, please begin evaluating your need for these products. Recent versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader now include features formally available only with Acrobat Pro.

Whatever your need for one of the Adobe software products, do not go out and purchase a license for Acrobat Pro or Creative Cloud at this time. Please wait for the new contract to be finalized.
