Use Lists in SharePoint 2007 - Announcements, Links, and Tasks
NOTE: SharePoint sites are best viewed with a Windows computer using Internet Explorer 7 as the web browser.
An announcements list can be used to post important messages about a project, such as deadlines and changes in deliverables, introductions to new team members, and other information.
Announcement Lists
Add an announcement
- Click the Add new announcement link below the Announcement List web part.
- In the Title textbox, enter a title for your announcement.
- In the Body textbox, enter the full text of your announcement.
- If you want the announcement to automatically expire after a certain date, type the date in the Expires textbox.
- Click OK.
Edit an Announcement List Item
- Within the Announcements web part, click the title of the announcement you want to edit.
- On the toolbar, click the Edit Item link.
- Make all desired changes.
- Click OK.
Links Lists
Links lists can be added to SharePoint sites as a central location for sharing links to web pages or other team resources. For example, a user might create a list of links to different team SharePoint sites or different web sites that team frequently visit.
Add a Link to a Links List
- Click the Add new link link below the Link List web part.
- In the URL textbox, enter the complete URL for the website you are linking.
- In the Description textbox, enter the text that should appear on the page.
- In the Notes textbox, enter optional notes about the link.
- Click OK.
Edit a Link in a Links List
- Click the heading “Links” for the Links web part.
- Click the Edit icon to the left of the link URL for the link you want to edit.
- Make all desired changes.
- Click OK.
Add an Item to a Tasks List:
- Click the Tasks Quick Launch link located in the Lists group.
- On the toolbar, click the New button to create a new task item.
- In the Title textbox, enter a title for the task.
- Optionally, enter information into any of the other fields available.
- Click OK.
Edit an Item on a Tasks List:
- Click the Tasks Quick Launch link located in the Lists group.
- Move your cursor over the title of the task you want to edit.
- Click the arrow that appears to the far right of the title to open a drop-down list.
- Click Edit Item.
- Make all the desired changes.
- Click OK.
