Request Penn State Access Account and College AG Account for a New Employee

New employees in the College of Ag Science should apply for two accounts. The first is a Penn State "Access Account" and the second is a College of Ag Sciences' "AG" account. The Access Account is used to access Penn State online resources like Adobe Connect webinars, Box@PennState and ESSIC. The AG account is used for College resources like SharePoint login, AG computer login, and College Exchange e-mail.

New employees need to apply and be granted a Penn State Access Account from Penn State's Information Technology Services (ITS) unit before a College of Ag Sciences' AG account can be created for them. We use this unique UserID to create the AG account.

STEP 1 - New Employee: Request Access Account from Penn State

In order to obtain a Penn State Access Account faculty and staff who are paid from PSU should:

  1. Complete the Access Account application form in their human resources "new hire" package.
    or
    Download and complete the Penn State Access Account Application for Faculty and Staff form from the Information Technology Services (ITS) Accounts Services Office.
  2. Return the completed form to your Human Resources Representative or to Ag IT.
  3. Once submitted, ITS requests that you allow three business days for the form to be processed.
  4. All new employees at University Park are required to go to an Information Technology Services (ITS)  Signature Station and follow the instructions there to obtain your Penn State UserID and password. County staff should contact the Ag IT helpdesk for assistance retrieving their ITS Account information.

STEP 2 - New Employee: Request AG Account

When the Penn State assigned UserID is created (Step 1-e), you should submit a Help Desk Submission Form request for the creation of your College AG account.

You should include the following details in the request:

  1. Indicate that you're requesting an AG account for a Penn State paid employee and include your Office name.
  2. Include your First and Last name.
  3. Include your Penn State UserID.
    -- For example (abc5555).
    -- We do not need the nine-digit Penn State Employee ID number.
  4. Do you need (Yes or No) an Outlook Exchange account created for Email and Calendaring?
    -- If located at University Park, please check with your Department.
    -- County Extension staff should respond Yes.
  5. Does your office (Yes or No) use Redirected My Documents (RMD) where My Documents are stored on an Ag IT server?
  6. Does your account (Yes or No) need access to Network Share Folders from your department/group?
    -- If your office is at Univ Park and uses Ag IT server shares, list the share names.
    -- If this is a county Extension office and your office has a server, we will allow this account to have access to all the "County Share" folders except the Administration folder. Please let us know if their access to folders should be more restrictive.
  7. Will you need (Yes or No) an account setup on an Ag machine?
    -- If located at University Park, please check with your Department.
    -- County Extension request will normally respond Yes.
  8. SharePoint access - if this person needs access to a SharePoint site, please provide the name and full address they will be accessing.

    The following text block may be copied and pasted into the Problem Details field on the form. You can then add the needed information in the form. You should send in this information in a separate request for each person.

STEP 3 - Ag IT

Once we have this information, Ag IT staff will create the AG account for the new employee.

STEP 4 - New Employee

Ag IT Support will contact the new employee when the AG account is active and schedule a time through Ag IT Support to setup the employee on a college/county owned computer.
