Configure Your Android Mobile Phone to use Ag Exchange Mail

Android mobile phones have the ability to quickly and easily configure access to your e-mail, calendar and contacts on the College of Ag Science’s Exchange server.

Please note: These steps may not match exactly due to model and carrier variances. However, the information you need to fill in the fields should be the same as what appears with this setup information. 

For Samsung S7 and other newer Android devices:

  1. From the home screen tap email
  2. Tap Add New Account.
  3. Choose Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
  4. Enter your E-mail address in the format of abc123@psu.edu.
  5. Enter your College of Ag password.
  6. Click Sign In.  Note:  if you receive an app permission prompt for email, tap allow
  7. The following message may appear: Unable to connect to server. Click OK.  Tap manual setup Microsoft Exchange Activesync
  8. Update the following account information and select Next.
    • Domain\username: Enter ag\ before your username (example ag\abc1234
    • Exchange Server: This should read   exchange.ag.psu.edu
    • User secure connection (SSL): Checked
    • Use client certificate:  Unchecked
  1. Tap Sign In
  2. A message titled Remote Security Administration may appear. You must click OK to configure your Exchange mail on your phone.
  3. A message titled Activate Email may appear. You must click OK to configure your Exchange mail on your phone.
  4. When finished click Sign In

For Samsung S4 and older Android models:

  1. From the Applications menu, select Email.
  2. Enter your E-mail address in the format of abc123@psu.edu.
  3. Enter your College of Ag password.
  4. If you would like this to be your default email account on your mobile phone, check the box marked Send email from this account by default.
  5. Select Next.
  6. Select Exchange account.
  7. Enter the following account information and select Next.
    • Domain: Use the following:  AG
    • Username: Enter your Ag UserID, for example vcv207
    • Password: Use your College of Ag password
    • Exchange Server: Use the following: exchange.ag.psu.edu
    • Use secure connection (SSL): Checked
    • Accept all SSL certificates: Unchecked
  8. As soon as your phone verifies the server settings, the options you can set up from the Account Options screen will include the following:
    • Email checking frequency The default value is Automatic (push). When you select this option, email messages will be sent to your phone as they arrive. We recommend only selecting this option if you have an unlimited data plan.
    • Amount to synchronize This is the amount of mail you want to keep on your mobile phone. You can choose from several length options, including One day, Three days, and One week.
    • Notify me when email arrives If you select this option, your mobile phone will notify you when you receive a new email message.
    • Sync contacts from this account If you select this option, your contacts will be synchronized between your phone and your account.
  9. Select Next and then enter a name for this account and the name you want displayed when you send email to others. Select Done to complete the email setup and start using your account.
