The Communications and Marketing group have developed Word letterhead templates that you easily download and use to create professional documents. These templates carry the University mark and the college brand.

To access these templates, visit http://agsci.psu.edu/communications/resources/extension/templates/letterhead and select the template you would like to use. Once you select the template, click the corresponding .dotx file that is displayed and click the Save button. If you would like to reuse these templates often, follow the steps below to add them to your Word templates directory.

Windows XP Users

  1. Open your My Documents folder
  2. From the Tools menu, choose Folder Options
  3. Click the View tab
  4. Click to place the dot in the show hidden files and folders option
  5. Click Apply and then click OK
  6. Close the Folder Options window
  7. Go to the template website, http://agsci.psu.edu/communications/resources/extension/templates/letterhead
  8. Click the template you want to use and click the Save button
  9. Save the file in C:\Documents and Settings\{userid}\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates
  10. Return to your My Documents folder and from the Tools menu choose the Folder Options and View tab once again
  11. Click to place the dot in the Do not show hidden files and folders option
  12. Click Apply, then click OK, then close the Folder Options window
  13. Open Word
  14. Click the Office button and choose the New option
  15. Select the My Templates option
  16. Select the template you downloaded as the basis for your new document

Windows 7 Users

  1. Open your My Documents folder
  2. From the Organize menu choose Folder and Search Options
  3. Click the View tab
  4. Click to place the dot in the show hidden files and folders option
  5. Click Apply and then click OK
  6. Close the Folder Options window
  7. Go to the template website, http://agsci.psu.edu/communications/resources/extension/templates/letterhead
  8. Click the template you want to use and click the Save button
  9. Save the file in C:\Users\{userid}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates
  10. Return to your My Documents folder and from the Organize menu choose Folder Options and the View tab once again
  11. Click to place the dot in the Do not show hidden files and folders option
  12. Click Apply, then click OK, then close the Folder Options window
  13. Open Word
  14. Click the File tab and choose the New option
  15. Select the My Templates option
  16. Select the template you downloaded as the basis for your new document

Macintosh Users

  1. Go to the template website, http://agsci.psu.edu/communications/resources/extension/templates/letterhead
  2. Click the template you want to use, select Save File and click the OK button
  3. The file will be saved in the Downloads folder on your hard disk
  4. Move the file from the Downloads folder to /Users/{userid}/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/User Templates/My Templates
  5. Open Word
  6. Click File in the menubar and choose New from Template...
  7. In the left pane, select My Templates
  8. Select the template you downloaded for your new Document
