FALL SEMESTER 2011

Friday, 12:20-3:20 p.m.

5 Business Building

Schedule Number:  622078

This 3-credit 500-level course (BA 578), was developed in response to requests from graduate students in the sciences and engineering disciplines.  Student teams in the Fall sessions developed plans for commercializing the results of seven research projects.

The course introduces such students to the basic concepts of entrepreneurship as it applies to the commercial applications of Science and Technology Research Programs, both in start-ups and within existing companies.

You should consider this course if you intend to direct your career at some stage towards the private sector rather than remaining in either an academic role, or seeking employment in a government funded research laboratory; or you would just like to explore other options for the future.

Such options may include:

·      Research and development management within a large corporation

·      Joining a start-up company designed to commercialize science in your chosen field of expertise

·      Forming a team to create a new technology-based start-up.
