A distinguished researcher in the field of food microbiology has created the first endowed professorship in Penn State’s Department of Food Science in the College of Agricultural Sciences. Larry Beuchat, 1965 agriculture graduate, created the Dr. Larry Beuchat Professorship in Food Microbiology with a gift of $1 million to recognize the Penn State faculty who inspired him and to encourage a new generation of researchers.
The Mid-Atlantic Alliance of Cooperatives has established two endowed scholarships to benefit students in Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences.
Thanks to two leadership gifts totaling $4 million, The Arboretum at Penn State will create and grow the Children’s Garden, an interactive place for children to learn and to explore the natural world.
Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream (Haagen Dazs) recently pledged $50,000 to create the Pollinator Research Endowment in the College of Agricultural Sciences. This endowment will support the Department of Entomology’s programs related to honey bee and native pollinator research.
Dr. James Tammen and his wife, Marilyn, are being remembered and honored with the creation of the James F. and Marilyn L. Tammen Memorial Endowment for International Plant Pathology. Continuing his passion and support of students' international experiences, colleagues, family and friends of Dr. Tammen pledged $25,000 to create the endowment.
