Posted: July 11, 2011

Established through a gift from Dr. Philip G. Keeney, Penn State professor emeritus of food science, and his late wife, Elsie, the Elsie and Philip Keeney Endowment for International Programs in Food Science will provide support to enhance the international study activities of the Department of Food Science. Additional contributions may be made by individuals or organizations who wish to honor the Keeneys. Dr. Keeney received his doctorate from Penn State in 1955, when he joined the College of Agricultural Sciences faculty and became the director of the famed Penn State Ice Cream Short course. He retired in 1985, and he was named a Distinguished Alumnus, the University’s highest honor for its graduates, in 1998.
