Ag Sciences students conduct research projects, publish their findings, and compete locally, regionally, nationally and sometimes internationally. Research options may include both lab and fieldwork and include topics such as biotechnology, geographic information systems (GIS), and wildlife ecology.

Through the study of biology, biochemistry, and genetics, Penn State Ag Sciences is enhancing our knowledge and understanding of animals. Whether it’s cattle nutrition, reproductive biology, meat science, biotechnology, biomedical research, or pre-veterinary studies, our faculty members and students are gaining insights into the animal world and how we interact with it.
Our students studying biomedical and food sciences can learn to deal with the overlapping challenges of food security, drug safety, environmental pollution, foodborne and infectious illnesses, cancer, and countless other scientific issues that will affect our health and our communities.

Turn your passion for hard science into a challenging career. Our students use technical skills to develop and test off-road equipment systems, detect and destroy food pathogens, investigate new sources of bioenergy, and design structures and processes to reduce the effects of pollution and erosion.
If you are interested in the environment and in preserving land, soils, air, and water quality, Penn State Ag Sciences programs in environmental sciences and policy might be for you. Our graduates are scientists, conservationists, policy makers, and problem solvers working with environmental consulting firms, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations all over the world.
Help sustainably manage the world’s natural resources. Penn State Ag Sciences is preparing the next generation to better manage forest ecosystems and forest products. Our students educate landowners on sustainable forestry, help conserve wildlife and fish species, study the impacts of climate change, and develop renewable building materials.
Plants are a multibillion-dollar industry providing many unique and exciting career choices. Students in plant sciences can learn to enhance plant traits or discover how plants respond to climate change.
