Summary of the Committee's regular monthly meeting.

Staff Retreat

  • Save the date has been sent to UP College of Ag Sci Staff
  • Date is set for July 14, 2016
  • Waiting to hear from the Dean  about which meal to order.
  • Need to close registration by June 30, 2016 to give caterer a count.
  • Staff award nominations have been received and winners have been chosen, awards will be announced at the Retreat.
  • Invitees will have the option to choose between a facilities tour OR barn tour when they register.
  • 200 anticipated staff attending, currently room for 190 with confirmed tours.
  • Have three buses reserved, could possibly get four if needed.
  • Committee members will register and attend but we will plan to have two members on each bus for support.
  • Terra volunteered to create the requested paper survey to be filled out by participants at the conclusion of the event.

Confirmed Facility Tours

  • Creamery Tour  (1/2 hour, 30 people)
  • Meats Lab/Sausage Making (need timeline, 30 people)
  • Greenhouse/Corsage Making (1 hour, 50 people)
  • Arboretum (1 hour, 20 people)

Confirmed Barn Tours

  • Dairy & Horse (1 hour, 30 people)
  • Deer & Beef/Sheep (1 hour, 30 people)

Committee members are looking into adding the following facility tours –

  • Entomology Museum
  • Calorimeter Building
  • Tour with Ag Advocates highlighting the history of Ag Hill
  • Mushroom Building

Staff Retreat Tentative Schedule

  • 11:45 a.m. -  Lunch & Presentations (Ag Arena)
  • 1:30 -3:30 p.m.  – Tours (location determined by registration )
  • 3:30 p.m. – Awards & Ice-cream (location TBD – either Arboretum, Forestry or ASI)

SACD is planning to finalize details of the Staff Retreat at the next meeting on May 23, 2016, registration will follow.
