Two scholarships for faculty and/or staff involved in online learning are being offered to attend The Institute for Engaged Leadership in Online Learning (IELOL), a unique blended-learning leadership development program sponsored by Penn State and the Sloan Consortium is offering two scholarships for faculty and/or staff. This institute is designed to serve the leadership development needs of professionals in the rapidly expanding field of online learning.

IELOL is a four-step leadership development program. The program begins with a three-week IELOL online experience (July 14-August 1) designed to identify and focus attention on key leadership challenges at the participants’ organizations. The second step is an on-site immersive experience at Penn State (August 11-14) that enables the IELOL participant to develop specific leadership skills, styles, networks, and strategies for the emerging leader. A three-week online project follow-up program (September 13–October 3) provides senior-level mentoring and consulting for the participants as they apply the newly acquired skills and concepts in their local settings. The program culminates with a preconference workshop (October 28) at the annual Sloan Consortium ALN conference (October 29-31) in Orlando.

Registration in IELOL is limited to 45 online leaders. The World Campus is holding two positions for leaders at Penn State. IELOL program participants have represented many leading online programs both nationally and internationally. There are over 174 IELOL alums who continue to network and use the skills they developed in the institute to further online learning initiatives within their home institutions. This is an opportunity for Penn State online learning leaders to join a national professional community.

The PSU scholarship covers the registration costs ($2,795) for this institute and are intended for individuals who are seen within their College as leaders and who desire to further develop their leadership capability in online education and apply the leadership skills and competencies developed to their college.

PLEASE NOTE: The Scholarship does not include travel and registration for the Sloan-C conference in October. The College/Department is asked to fund this aspect of the participants IELOL experience.

Please consider nominating one or more colleagues by visiting the Institute’s website. Nominations must be received by April 25, 2014. The IELOL Registration site closes to the general public April 1st and a note will be posted indicating that applications are no longer being received. Please ignore the "applications closed notice" as you are able to submit until April 25.
