C. Daniel (Dan) Azzara, Ph.D., is the Director of the E&I Program and Alan R. Warehime Professor of Food and Agribusiness in the College of Agricultural Sciences at Penn State University. Dan recently retired from The Hershey Company where he was Senior Vice President, Global Research and Development.

He is responsible for building interdisciplinary programs integrating technical, business and international perspectives.

Dan recently retired from The Hershey Company where he was Senior Vice President, Global Research and Development. In this role he was responsible for the Company's Product Development, New Technology and Product Improvement functions. As Senior Vice President, Dan served on the Hershey Executive Team reporting directly to the CEO. He contributed to a number of enterprise-wide initiatives including approach to innovation, talent management, improved supply chain efficiencies and global expansion.

Dan holds a doctorate in food science from The Pennsylvania State University. In addition, he holds a master's degree in food science from Penn State, and a bachelor's degree in science education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). He was named Outstanding Alumnus from the College of Agricultural Sciences at Penn State in 2003. Dan served on the boards of the National Confectioners Association (NCA), the International Food Information Council (IFIC), the International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI) and the Penn State Food Science Industrial Advisory Board.
