Deb Dietrich has served Penn State Extension since 1988. Initially the Berks County 4-H Youth Development Educator working in the 4-H Animal Science Program, her program responsibilities expanded to include urban youth outreach. Over the course of her career she has taken on additional responsibilities for 4-H team leadership including serving as Chair and Evaluation Leader of the 4-H Science Team for a period of seven years. Her areas of youth development program expertise encompass science programming, including STEM, animal science, plant science and environmental science as well as programming for urban audiences. In 2017 Deb was named the Area 4-H Educator for the eleven counties, including Philadelphia, in southeastern Pennsylvania. In this role, Deb leads and supervises the 4-H youth development programs and staff. She applies her experience to strategize and trouble shoot with the county 4-H Educators to improve program quality and reach. Her state level program leadership continues to focus on youth program evaluation and expanding reach to new and underrepresented youth audiences.
