The Penn State Ag Council spring delegate meeting will take place at Celebration Hall, State College, on April 9, where the program will focus on the trends, challenges, and opportunities around sustainable agriculture.

The program will begin with an overview from Leslie Zook, Executive Director of Pennsylvania Certified Organic, who will provide information on trends, challenges, and opportunities as it pertains to organic production.

The program will also include Michael Spangler, Director of Organic Grain for Perdue AgriBusiness LLC. Spangler will discuss Perdue's adoption of a significant strategic initiative focused on organic production.

Recognizing the powerful voice of consumers, particularly in the retail marketplace, Mary Ellen Burris, Senior Vice President of Consumer Affairs for Wegmans will discuss consumer issues and expectations around food production and how Wegmans is responding.

Additional panelists - including producers and college faculty - will provide broader perspectives and information on the trends, challenges and issues as well as an overview on college programs and research in this area.
