Held on November 29, Ag Live surpasses fundraising goal for the eight consecutive year raising more than $42,000 through sponsorships, a live auction and a silent auction. These funds will directly benefit the newly created Ag Alumni Society Trustee Endowed Scholarship.

The 2014 Armsby Honor Society celebration and new member induction took place on Friday, October, 31 with a Reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by Dinner and a Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. at The Nittany Lion Inn. Dean Richard Roush was the keynote speaker.
Three alumni were recognized with the Outstanding Alumni Award and one alumnus with the Outstanding Recent Alumnus Award on October 20, 2014 at the Nittany Lion Inn. Named Outstanding Alumni were Alan Bair, Siree Chaiseri, and Calvin Ernst. Justin Runyon was named Outstanding Recent Alumnus.
Add the newest Dairymen’s Club bottle to your collection! The Penn State Dairymen’s Club announces a holiday sale of their milk bottle collection, along with the release of the new 2014 milk bottle. The new milk bottle features the student section in Beaver Stadium, commonly known as the “S-Zone.”
Kick-off for the Penn State vs. Michigan State football game has been set for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 29. The tailgate begins at noon. Remember to bring your Tackle Hunger food drive donations which support the Penn State Lion's Pantry.

More than 130 industry, government employers and higher education institutions from across the country participated in the College of Ag Sciences Career Day on October 21, 2014 bringing over 250 representatives to meet and interview students for internships and full-time employment positions. Almost 44% of those employer representatives were Penn State College of Ag Sciences alumni.
The Outstanding Alumni Awards recognize alumni for their achievements and provide opportunities for recipients to interact with the college's faculty, students and other alumni. Named Outstanding Alumni were N. Alan Bair, Siree Chaiseri, and Calvin Ernst. Justin Runyon was named Outstanding Recent Alumnus, an award that honors alumni who have graduated in the last 10 years.

Gary Schroeder has two degrees from Penn State, '78 Plant Science and '80 M.S. Plant Pathology, as well as strong family ties to the University. His father, Dr. Morris Schroeder, was a long time professor in Ag & Bio Engineering who embraced the meaning of extension and can be seen at a dedication in his honor at the Pasto Agricultural Museum.

The "Seasons of Horticulture" will be the theme of the 101st annual Penn State Horticulture Show, Sept. 27-28. Presented by students in the College of Agricultural Sciences, the free event will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday in the Snider Agricultural Arena.
Dr. Steven Leath '79 will be recognized along with twenty Penn State alumni on Oct. 8 for their outstanding professional accomplishments and given the lifelong title of Alumni Fellow, the highest award given by the Penn State Alumni Association. Dr. Leath is the president of Iowa State University.
Kevin has gained a lot of experience in a short amount of time after he graduated from Penn State in 2010 with his B.S. in Turfgrass Science. He started as a Sales Representative in the Turf and Ornamental Division at Dow AgroSciences LLC and is now the Commercial Workforce Recruiting Specialist.

Penn State announced that Richard Roush will be the new dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences, pending approval by the University Board of Trustees at its July 11 meeting. His appointment is effective Oct. 1, 2014.
The new College of Agricultural Sciences Alumni Society Trustee Scholarship is the society's third endowed scholarship and will benefit Ag Sciences students who have a demonstrated financial need.

The Peace Corps recently hired Penn State alumnus and returned Peace Corps volunteer Charles Cascio, '09 Animal Science, at the Peace Corps for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Office in Washington, D.C. Cascio, 27, will serve as a recruiter in Virginia, promoting awareness of Peace Corps programs and serving as a liaison for volunteer applications.
Austin Miller, a Lancaster native and sophomore studying Agricultural Business Management suffered a spinal cord injury and collapsed lung while at a trampoline facility in March and is now in a rehabilitation facility starting the long and arduous healing process. We encourage our Penn State family and friends to send words of encouragement to Austin.

Jana Peters, advising coordinator and undergraduate adviser in the Department of Animal Science, is the recipient of this year's Ag Alumni Society Excellence in Academic Advising Award.
Courtney Marie Norjen, a veterinary and biomedical sciences major from Ellicott City, Md., is the recipient of the Outstanding Senior Award from Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences Alumni Society.
Eric Cowden '03 Ag Sci was awarded the FFA Honorary American Degree and was praised by U.S. Representative Glenn Thompson for his leadership in the field of agriculture and commitment to agricultural education.
Food Science major Monica Caparosa was recognized with the Alumni Society Internship Award for her work in research and development and quality-assurance at Starkist's Pittsburgh headquarters. The Internship Award is a competitive awards program to encourage undergraduate students to participate in internships.
Kate Thompson was awarded one of eight Ag Alumni Society Scholarship Awards in the Fall of 2013. Kate is a double major in Community, Environment and Development in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Anthropology in the College of the Liberal Arts. She traveled to Madagascar to conduct research on the aye-aye species for her Schreyer Honors College thesis.

The 39th annual National Agricultural Alumni and Development Association (NAADA) Conference will be held at Penn State. The College of Ag Sciences will host almost 150 colleagues and friends from land grant institutions across the nation.
Ag Ball is scheduled for Friday, April 4 starting at 6:00pm at the Ramada Inn. Tickets are $15 per person which includes a buffet dinner, awards ceremony, and casino theme activities. Nominations are now being accepted for the Excellence in Academic Advising Award. New this year, staff who advise students are eligible for nomination. The deadline for nominations is Monday, April 7.

Through two endowments, the Ag Alumni Society awarded 17 students with scholarships and internship awards for their academic achievement, leadership skills, and outstanding internship experiences.
The Tackle Hunger Food Drive held during the Ag Live Tailgate was a huge success. Special thank you to the Penn State Pullers for the use of their tractor. This years food donation of 500 donated items went to the Penn State Pride Pantry, a student run organization that helps students who are food insecure.
Seven alumni, experts in their fields, returned to campus to give of their time and talent at the Mentoring Workshop. Complimentary professional head shot photographs were offered to students participating in the workshops.
