Agricultural Finance Industry

Kieth Walker is an Executive Loan Officer for Ag Choice Farm Credit, earning his B.S. in Agribusiness Management in 1980. Working at the Seven Mountains Branch located in Yeagerstown, Walker has a true passion for his job.

"The biggest challenge I've seen over my time spent with Ag Choice Farm Credit is technology. Today, some farmer's are milking in the 1980's. They are not going to survive," states Walker.

Emily Zimmerman is a Senior Financial Specialist for Ag Choice Farm Credit, earning her B.S in Animal Sciences in 2004 and M.S. in Animal Sciences in 2005 with a minor in Agribusiness Management.

Zimmerman credits her 4-H experiences, showing hogs and sending a buyers letter every year to Walker who was an employee of Ag Choice Farm Credit then. Early on she had a goal in mind to become a large animal veterinarian, but found her passion in the finance industry. Instead of working directly with animals, she is working with farmers who are aiding those animals in their business. She says "Making a positive impression early on in your career will take you the furthest."

Both Walker and Zimmerman discussed benefits and career advantages with Ag Choice Farm Credit. From marketing, accounting to customer care specialists, including their job positions, Ag Choice Farm Credit offers a variety of career specialties. Zimmerman encouraged students to complete several internships to gain valuable experience.
