2012 Outstanding Recent Alumnus

Andrew D. Herr ’07 B.S. Animal Sciences

 

 

A 2007 graduate in Animal Sciences, Herr is Pet Care Division general manager for Rembrandt Enterprises Inc., of Okoboji, Iowa, the largest vertically integrated egg-products company in the United States.

Herr began his career with Rembrandt in 2005 while still a Penn State student. He started the Pet Care Division in 2007 as a new venture for the company.

Under his leadership, the Pet Care Division has grown to be one of the largest producers of egg proteins for the pet-food industry. He has played a key role in expanding the company's presence into Europe and Asia.

Herr is a member of several professional organizations, including the International Egg Commission and the U.S. Poultry and Egg Association, which honored him with its national Outstanding Senior Award in 2007.

Along with his current responsibilities, Herr has found time to pursue dual master's degrees in business administration and agricultural economics from Indiana University and Purdue University, respectively. He currently lives in Minneapolis, Minn., with his wife, Sara.
