’67 B.S. Dairy Production and ’71 M.S. Animal Science

Bair has dedicated his professional career to supporting and promoting the dairy industry. He retired from Penn State's Department of Animal Science in 2011 after serving 15 years as director of dairy industry relations. In that role, he facilitated communication between the dairy industry, Penn State and the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

Bair received a bachelor's degree in dairy production in 1967 and a master's degree in animal science in 1971, both from Penn State. He began his career as a dairy educator for Penn State Extension in Lancaster County before serving 17 years as director of member and public relations for Atlantic Breeders Cooperative, now Genex.

He has carried out volunteer assignments in international development in six countries, focusing on education and business planning. In addition, he represented the Department of Animal Science on two projects in the Azores, Portugal.

In 2014, Bair and his wife, Sally, were honored by the Center for Dairy Excellence with the Pacesetter Award, and in 2010 he received the Department of Animal Science's Distinguished Alumnus Award. He is a charter member of the college's Armsby Honor Society and was a 2001 dedicatee of the Penn State Dairy Exposition.

Active in his community, he has served on the Lancaster Farmland Trust board of trustees and on the Lancaster Farm and Home Foundation board of directors.
